Acceptable Use Policy
What you can and cannot do with sites and applications we host. Mostly common sense, put in writing.
Last updated: 27 May 2026
1. Scope
This policy applies to anyone using the sandbanksdigital.com website, and to clients whose websites or applications are hosted on infrastructure managed by Sandbanks Digital.
2. Prohibited activities
You must not use our website or any client site we host for:
- Anything unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, defamatory or otherwise causing harm to others.
- Sending unsolicited bulk email (spam) from our servers, domains or mail relays.
- Distributing malware, ransomware, viruses, phishing pages or any code designed to harm systems or deceive users.
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to our infrastructure, other client environments, or any account that is not yours.
- Scraping, automated harvesting or denial-of-service traffic, against our systems or any third-party systems.
- Hosting content that infringes intellectual property rights — copyright, trademark, patent or otherwise.
- Hosting content that is obscene, exploitative of minors, or otherwise illegal under UK law.
- Selling or promoting weapons, controlled substances, or other goods that are illegal in the UK to sell online without licence.
- Misrepresenting your business identity, operating shell companies for the purpose of defrauding others, or engaging in pyramid / multi-level-marketing structures designed to deceive.
3. Resource use
Hosting plans include reasonable allowances for traffic, storage and compute. Sustained unusual usage — for example, a viral spike, sudden bot traffic, or a campaign that drives heavy load — may require an upgrade. We will always tell you before any change is made.
4. Security and account integrity
You are responsible for keeping any login credentials we issue to you secure. If you believe an account has been compromised, contact us immediately at contact@sandbanksdigital.com. We may temporarily lock affected accounts while we investigate.
5. Your content and your users
You are solely responsible for the content you publish through services we host and for your relationship with your own customers and site visitors. Where your site collects personal data from your users, you are the data controller for that data and are responsible for your own privacy notice, lawful basis and any required consents. We do not actively monitor or moderate the content of client sites and have no obligation to do so, but we may review content where we receive a report or have reason to believe this policy has been breached.
6. Reporting abuse
If you believe a website hosted by us is in breach of this policy, please email contact@sandbanksdigital.com with the URL and details. We investigate every report and act on credible concerns.
7. Consequences of breach
We reserve the right, at our discretion and acting reasonably, to remove or disable access to content, or to suspend or terminate services, where we consider this policy has been breached. We will give notice where it is practical and lawful to do so.
We take a proportional approach:
- For minor or first-time issues, we will contact you and ask you to resolve the problem within a reasonable time.
- For serious breaches (illegal content, malware, deliberate fraud) we may suspend or terminate hosting immediately and report the matter to relevant authorities.
- We may retain or share information with law enforcement where required by law.
8. Relationship to other policies
This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. In the event of conflict, your signed services agreement takes precedence over the website-level terms.
